Kratom
Kratom and 7-OH products may be used for pain, energy, mood, anxiety, or to reduce use of other substances. For some people, regular use can lead to tolerance, dependence, withdrawal symptoms, and difficulty stopping.

Not every substance use concern fits neatly into alcohol, opioid, or stimulant addiction. Some substances are legal. Some are prescribed. Some are marketed as natural. Others may seem less serious at first because they are common or easy to access.
Northview Wellness provides physician-led outpatient treatment for adults struggling with kratom, cannabis, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and related substance use concerns. Treatment is personalized around the substance involved, withdrawal risk, mental health symptoms, daily use patterns, and recovery goals.
If you are not sure whether your substance use requires treatment, a confidential assessment can help you understand the safest next step.
Other substances
Northview Wellness treats substance use concerns that may not fit into the main alcohol, opioid, or stimulant categories, but can still lead to dependence, cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and problems in daily life.
This page focuses on three other substance groups we treat: kratom, cannabis, and benzodiazepines and barbiturates.
Each substance affects the body differently, so treatment should be based on the substance involved, withdrawal risk, mental health symptoms, daily use patterns, and recovery goals.

Explore Kratom TreatmentCannabis use may become a concern when marijuana, Delta-8, Delta-9, edibles, vapes, concentrates, or high-potency THC products begin affecting motivation, sleep, anxiety, mood, relationships, school, work, or daily responsibilities.
Explore Cannabis TreatmentBenzodiazepines and barbiturates are sedative medications that can lead to dependence, especially with long-term use, higher doses, or misuse. Withdrawal from these substances can be medically serious and should not be managed alone.

Kratom, cannabis, benzodiazepines, and barbiturates do not all affect the body in the same way. That means treatment should not be identical for every person.
At Northview Wellness, care begins with an assessment to understand what substance is involved, how often it is being used, whether withdrawal symptoms are present, whether other substances are involved, and what level of support may be safest.
Treatment may focus on withdrawal symptoms, cravings, daily use patterns, pain, anxiety, sleep, stress, and avoiding a return to regular use. Learn more about our kratom and 7-OH addiction treatment.
Treatment may focus on cravings, motivation, sleep, anxiety, mood, daily routines, Delta-8 or Delta-9 use, and building healthier coping strategies. Learn more about our marijuana addiction treatment.
Treatment must be more medically cautious. Stopping benzodiazepines or barbiturates suddenly can be dangerous. Northview can assess whether outpatient detox may be appropriate or whether a higher level of care is safer. See our benzodiazepine and barbiturate addiction treatment page for details.
Programs
Northview Wellness offers outpatient levels of care that can be matched to the person’s substance use, withdrawal risk, mental health, and daily responsibilities.
Treatment may include outpatient detox when appropriate, PHP, IOP, outpatient care, and recovery life coaching.
Outpatient detox may be considered when withdrawal symptoms can be managed safely in an outpatient setting. This is especially important for sedative dependence, where medical guidance is needed before reducing or stopping use.
PHP provides a structured daytime treatment option for people who need more support, therapy, accountability, and clinical monitoring without an overnight stay.
IOP offers structured treatment several days per week while allowing patients to continue living at home. It may support people who need help with cravings, routines, relapse prevention, and emotional stability.
Outpatient care may support continued therapy, medication management when appropriate, relapse prevention, and long-term recovery planning.
Recovery life coaching can help patients build routines, accountability, healthier coping skills, and daily structure after the most intensive stage of treatment.
Safety
Benzodiazepines and barbiturates require special caution. If your substance use involves Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Valium, phenobarbital, secobarbital, or another sedative, do not stop suddenly without medical guidance.
Withdrawal from benzodiazepines or barbiturates can cause serious symptoms, including panic, confusion, hallucinations, seizures, or other medical complications.
Insurance
Insurance may help cover treatment for kratom, cannabis, benzodiazepine, barbiturate, or other substance-related concerns. Coverage depends on your plan, benefits, medical necessity, and recommended level of care.
Northview Wellness can verify insurance benefits confidentially before treatment begins. If you would like to contact admissions directly, our team can answer your questions.
